Game developers Mojang Studios have changed their conventional one-update-per-year planning by dropping multiple small updates throughout the year.
The Minecraft Chaos Cubed update is expected to release around mid or late July 2026.
This year the Minecraft updates are being released at the quarterly times of the year. The Minecraft 26.1 Tiny Takeover update is set to release on March 24, 2026. So we can assume the mid-June window to be the time for the Minecraft 26.2 update.

Mojang has revealed the name for their 26.2 update as Chaos Cubed during Minecraft Live, and the update will bring a new cave biome with the Sulfur Cube mob being the highlight of it.

Sulfur Caves Biome
Sulfur Caves is the latest biome that will be introduced in the Minecraft game via the Chaos Cubed update.
The caves will have noxious pools, which can have a dizzying effect on players who walk onto them. The nearer you are to these pools, the riskier it is.
Sulfur and Cinnabar are the two new blocks you’ll discover inside the cave biome. The red and yellow colors of the caves are a result of these blocks.
The warm tones of these blocks will add a 3D fading effect to these caves if you closely check out the above image.
Sulfur Cube Mob
Another big feature that Minecraft Chaos Cubed brings is the Sulfur Cube. They look similar to the magma blocks in the Nether and slime chunks in swamp biomes.
But the speciality that makes Sulfur Cube different from others is that they can absorb different types of blocks, which can directly affect their movements and behaviour.
If you drop a block near a Sulfur Cube mob, you’ll notice that it absorbs and takes the characteristics of that block. For example, if it absorbs a wooden block, then it’ll act as a bouncing cube like a wooden block.
This feature brings endless possibilities for players to design the map of their choice.
